Homecoming Benefit for Nursing Home Final Information:

• This weekend - Friday 8/21 and Saturday 8/22
• Opportunities to serve: There are still several openings on the helper sign-up. If you are able to help during the weekend, we would be very grateful!  Benefit Weekend Sign Up
• Luminary Ceremony: We would tentatively like to hold our “Lighting the Way” Luminary Ceremony on Friday evening, however luminary submissions have been few so far, so we are waiting to see if there is enough participation to move forward with the ceremony. If you would like to honor or remember someone special, please contact Jamie Hodel to submit your information within the next few days. We hope to have enough names to make this a meaningful part of Friday evening.
• New this year - Early Bidder Number Registration: We are again offering the opportunity to put all food/vendor items on your bidder number allowing you to check out just once before leaving the event. This would be for Friday and Saturday. You do not need to check out Friday if you are coming back on Saturday. To expedite this process, you can sign up for a bidder number by 2 pm on Friday at the following link:  Bidder Number Sign Up Link. When ordering food, the cashiers can look you up by name and inform you of your bidder number. For the auction, you will need to stop at the registration table Saturday morning to get your printed bidder number to use. Any questions, talk to Jenell Hodel.
• We kindly ask that children remain with an adult while visiting the auction tent. Last year, a few auction items were accidentally damaged during preview time, so we appreciate everyone helping us protect the many generous donations on display. 
• New this year, there will be free children’s activities in the fenced Kids Area on Friday evening during the auction preview. No wristband is needed Friday night — wristbands are only required for Saturday’s activities.
• Attached below are Luminary Ceremony information, and an updated flyer with schedule for the weekend and food menu. 
• As we prepare for this special weekend, we ask for your prayers—that God would bless each detail, each helping hand, and each person that attends, and that through it all, His light would be seen and His love would be felt.

Sunday, 8/23 - First Day of Sunday School - Attached is the list of teachers and students for the upcoming year. If any changes need to be made to the roster, please contact Melinda Knepp. 

Ladies Bible Study: Any ladies looking to join a bible study group, please contact Jackie Knepp at 309-397-0728. There are several groups looking for ladies to join them. These multigenerational groups are a great way to grow together in the Word and build relationships within our church family.

Fall/Winter Small Groups - Each group only meets one time and it's a great way to get to know people better in our church family. We encourage everyone to sign up and give it a try. Sign up at Roanoke FallWinter Small Group 2026 Link Today, Sunday, 8/16 is the last day to sign up.

Please save the date for a Men's Steak Dinner on Friday September 11 at Stephen & Susan Bertschi's land. All men of high school age and older are welcome to attend! Come anytime after 5 pm and dinner will be served at 6 pm. In case of rain, it will be rescheduled for Saturday September 12.

The Roanoke Trail Life and American Heritage Girls troops are kicking off our new year with an Open House and Informational meeting. We will be meeting in the church basement on August 17th at 6:00. These programs are open to any youth from 5-17 years old. Please contact Byron Gerber or Renae Lindberg for more information.

Looking Ahead

• Sunday, 8/23 - Frank’s last sermon during second service. To offer our thanks and appreciation, there will be a receiving line and a snack in the dining room following this service. 
• Sunday, 8/30 - Nate’s ordination during the second service with a line and snack following.
• Saturday, 9/19 - Ladies Day 8:45-noon.
